Exiles were struggling to get a team together this weekend, but fortunately the tough Georgians Giga, Levan and Ushenga did a double shift after Pingvin. Tower also returned after injury for the first time this season. Giga got a try early on but Uppsalsa scored two to take the lead. Then Levan got one and two conversions by Ushenga made it 14 – 12 to the home teams. Uppsala replied to retake the lead but a slick passing move saw Doug hold a difficult pass to go over in the corner. Ushenga converted and it was 21 – 19 at the break.
Uppsala maintained their challenge for a further ten minutes, but then the tries came at regular intervals. Tower (2) and Elias got the touchdowns after forward drives and then Tower showed a turn of speed from 30 metres out to get a hattrick. As time ran out, the pack added a final score via Levan. Tower had a good game, as did the Georgians. Lineout was very poor and the backs need to be a bit more creative. But it looks as if Exiles will remain undefeated in the brief Div. 2 Mälardalen. Then they will have to decide if they want to take part in playoffs.
Other games this weekend: the Ladies beat Enköping 102 – 0 to average 80 points a game so far. Södertälje and Hammarby won comfortably in Div. 1 and it will no doubt be between them for promotion. Troján – Enköping was apparently an entertaining game (42 – 20); Troján turned up with two very useful imports, but it was the young Enköping lads who got their act together and won the second half.
It was interesting to see the Pingvin – Exiles game on YouTube last night. A very good game where Pingvin took their chances and scored three excellent tries. It looks as if we´re going to have an exciting season after all.
