Exiles too good for Enköping

11 Aug 2018
Enköping put up a reasonable display in the forwards but were no match for a sparkling Exiles back division which ran in most of their 54 points in the first half.

The second half was more disjointed with Exiles playing into the wind and giving away a number of penalties which Enköping booted down the field for position.
Exiles were off the mark in 5" when Oliver came into the line from fullback and from then on it was a point a minute for some time. Enköping spoilt the pattern by putting over a penalty after 10" but then Theor ran from the back of the scrum to score. Enköping got a yellow card when knocking on to avoid a certain try and then Florian found space on the wing. Then it was Richie Hemmens, recently returned from Hammarby and a couple of caps to dodge his way over in the centre for two more. Then three tries before the break in a couple of minute. First Erik went over on the blind side from the back row, then Kyle was up to take the final pass and finally Jeandré after a beautifully balanced run from his own half went over under the posts. Jack Andersson put over 7 conversions from all over the park to make it 54 - 0.
Changes were brought on and as always fluency was reduced. But pressure was maintained and Theo who was having a good day got over for another. After a long palaver on 52", two props got yellow cards and Exiles conceded half a dozen penalties and were kept on the back foot for some time. Enköping got their reward when a gap finally appeared in the Exiles defense and a converted try was scored. That made it 61 - 10 with 20 minutes to go but fate intervened. An Enköping player was rather badly injured, could not be moved, and with an ambulance scheduled to take 20 minutes, the referee correctly decided to end the game. Safety as always is imperative.
Exiles were hoping for a big score and will probably find 61 points in less than 60 minutes satisfactory. There forward play still needs to be sharpened however and time is beginning to run out before the key game against Pingvin in a couple of week´s time.
Congratulations Imran on refereeing your first Allsvensk match. I thought you handled it well although, as reported, certain problems arose.

On Friday night, Pingvin outclassed Göteborg 92 - 0, Exiles Ladies got a walkover against Berserkers while the Berserkers men went down 80 - 0 to Attila. Not exactly a vintage weekend.
